Many people agree on counting the Kinnickinnic River as a precious local resource. Few people think of the “Kinni” as being part of the St. Croix River Basin watershed, but a Thursday, April 16, conference spotlights the basin.
Hundreds of Rotarians from two states will meet at UW-River Falls April 17-19 to “Make Dreams Real in our Sustainable World.” The annual District 5960 Conference draws Rotarians from 62 clubs in central and southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
The goal of the experiment was to determine if local public records are truly accessible to ordinary citizens. Thirty-eight UW-River Falls students who took part in an open records audit learned the answer is nearly always yes. But that doesn’t mean all area officials give up the information graciously.
