Polkas, brats and German beer under the big top in Glover Park mark the third annual downtown New Richmond Oktoberfest Friday, Sept. 25 and Saturday, Sept 26.
Local bands play Friday starting at 4 p.m. The S.G. Edelweiss Dancers will also perform.
On Saturday, the Old Gem Theater presents an Oktoberfest Comedy Night featuring Louie Anderson and Scott Hanson for 2 shows at 7 and 9:15 p.m.
Tickets to the Oktoberfest Comedy Night are $39.95 to $49.95 and can be purchased at the Old Gem Box office 715-246-3285.

The River Falls Community Theatre will hold auditions for its upcoming winter play "A Christmas Carol" at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the River Falls Academy. Organizers seek two men, three women, one boy (8-12 years old), a violinist and an individual for on-stage sound effects. Auditions are open to interested community members regardless of experience.
Performances are scheduled for December.

Church holds fall fest
The Fall Festival of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi is 6-7:30 pm Saturday, Oct. 3, and 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4.
Saturday features a barbeque rib & chicken dinner, live music and a country store. Sunday's activities include a silent auction, food, games, bingo and country store. A raffle drawing is at 3:30 p.m.

Afton Art in the Park
The 31st annual Afton Art in the Park, Saturday, Sept. 26 is 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27.
This event features over 50 vendors showcasing fine arts, pottery, woodwork, jewelry, photography, sculpture, fiber and more.
On Saturday, 30-40 classic MGs are expected. Local bands perform from the park gazebo each day. Food will also be available for purchase.

Llama farm has open house
Sheila and Britt Fugina host an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Shady Ridge Farm Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3 and 4 in New Richmond.
The event will spotlight the many uses and versatility of llamas. The Fuginas have been raising llamas for more than 20 years.
Shady Ridge Farm is located at 1331 130th Avenue, about four miles south of New Richmond and just a quarter mile east of Highway 65.

Celebrate fall at nature center
Warner Nature Center's 10th Annual Fall Color Blast is 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4.
Enjoy the peak of fall's glory by hiking Warner woods and bog, canoeing Lake Terrapin, riding on a solar-powered pontoon boat or seeing raptors up close.
This free event is sponsored by the WNC Friends of Warner Advisory Board. Pets are not allowed on the grounds.
