Big Time Barbeque Buddies win Lions Club Rib Fest at Burkhardt

The fourth annual Lions Club Rib Fest drew a hungry crowd to sample ribs from eight competitors. When is was all over, the Big Time Barbeque Buddies took home the first place trophy for the second year in a row.

The competition was judged by professional chef William Goss of Agave Kitchen, Postmark Grille kitchen manager Samantha Lawrence, barbeque competitors Chuck McGee and Neil Phillips of Hudson, Le Cordon Bleu Culinary instructors Steven Shapely and Ryan Siess and amateur cook but accomplished eater Meg Heaton of the Hudson Star-Observer.  McGee and Phillips did not compete in the contest this year but did train the judges panel on what to look for.

The event raises money for scholarships and local nonprofits. Lions chairmen of the event Lyle Fridlund said close to 500 people attended. It was held at the Willow River Inn in Burkhardt.
