Tips on better eating

Hudson Hospital & Clinics Health Resource Center is offering a health event: A Better Weigh to Cook & Dine Out is offered on Wednesday, March 11, 5:30-6:30 p.m. presented by Cheri Rott, RD, and Trudy Kapaun, RD, registered dietitians. During this seminar participants will learn how to cook for a better and lighter weight, and how to stock a kitchen with quick meal ideas. Participants will also develop successful strategies for ordering smaller portions, lower calorie foods and for avoiding danger zones when dining out in restaurants. Low-cost shots through county

The St. Croix County Department of Public Health holds immunization clinics Mondays in New Richmond at Public Health, 1445 N. Fourth St. The next clinics are March 9, 16, 23 and 30. Hours are noon-5 p.m. March 9, noon-4 p.m. the other days. A variety of vaccines are available. Hepatitis B requires pre-ordering and pre-payment, (715) 246-8330. Public Health also offers low-cost reproductive health services (715-246-8365), well-child screenings (715-246-8369) and the Women Infant Children nutrition program (715-246-8359). Nutrition events set

Family Fresh Market here in Hudson has scheduled several free events related to nutrition and eating. Classes include:

  • Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8; Corner Cafe Chat - Healthy Eating on a Budget. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the cafe at the store, the event involves eating healthy on a budget.
  • Saturday, March 7 and Tuesday, March 10; Back to Basics Weight Management Supermarket Tour. Begins at 11:30 a.m. (March ) and 6 p.m. (March 10) and at the nutritionist space at the store. Learn about products to help weight management. To reserve a spot call Mary Jo at 715 381-1413 at least one day in advance
  • Saturday, March 7; Kids Nutrition Scavenger Hunt, anytime from 1 to 4 p.m. in the cafe at the store. The program offers teaches kids of all ages about food and nutrition. Prizes to be awarded.
