Hudson man gets 19 citations after high speed chase

A 22-year-old Hudson man received 19 traffic citations along with a head injury as a result of a high speed chase just after midnight Tuesday.

Anthony F. Saraceno, 1078 Hunter Ridge, was taken to Regions Hospital around 2 a.m. on Tuesday after he crashed his car on Division Street in Lakeland, Minn.

The incident began just before 1 a.m. when Hudson Police Officer Mark Crimmins observed Saraceno's vehicle apparently speeding on Coulee Road near 19th Street. Crimmins activated his lights after he clocked the vehicle traveling 49 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.

Saraceno did not stop but instead accelerated traveling even faster in and around Plaza 94, and onto several residential streets in the area. At one point he entered Prospect Park from Wisconsin Street where he did some damage to the park land. He went back onto Wisconsin Street to Vine Street then onto Second Street through downtown.

According to Chief Marty Jensen, the vehicle almost struck a pedestrian who had to jump back onto th e curb at Second Street. Saraceno proceeded south on Highway 35 to the interstate bridge into Minnesota . He exited onto Highway 95 south. He drove across two roundabouts before turning onto Division Street in Lakeland. There he hit a driveway access, launching his vehicle several feet in the air before coming to rest.

Saraceno was taken into custody and transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for treatment.

Jensen said the citations issued included driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to yield to a pedestrian and driving left of center.
