Janesville loses Parker Pen jobs to Mexico
Just when you thought things couldn't get worse, they do.
The reeling Janesville economy suffers yet another blow with the announcement of the closing of the Parker Pen factory.
It's official name is the Sanford Corp., but Parker Pen has been a major employer in the Wisconsin city for more than 120 years.
About 153 workers will be affected.
Manufacturing and distribution operations will be moving to Mexico.
The Janesville factory has been serving corporate customers with customized writing instruments.
Janesville and Rock County have lost hundreds of jobs in the last year, including the closing of the GM factory.
