Louisville women's point guard Tiera Stephen transfers to Wisconsin

Louisville women's point guard Tiera Stephen is transferring to Wisconsin.

Badger coach Lisa Stone said she recruited the 5-foot-7-inch freshman, and she's excited about signing her.

Stephen started the final 10 games last season for Louisville, which lost to Connecticut in the NCAA national championship game.

The Badgers' current point guards, Teah Gant and Rae Lin D'Alie, will be seniors this fall.

Stephen must sit out a year under the NCAA's transfer rules, and she'll then have three years of eligibility.

Stone says Stephen can use the time to learn the system, and should slide in at point guard in 2010.

She averaged 10 minutes a game at Louisville, with around 1 point, one rebound, and 1.5 assists per contest.
