Bucks sign top draft pick Brandon Jennings

The Milwaukee Bucks signed their top draft pick Tuesday.

Point guard Brandon Jennings will get $3.25 million dollars for his first two seasons, including $1.8 million this year.

The Bucks hold his options for the third and fourth years.

Jennings, who played last season in Italy, was the 10th overall pick in last month's NBA Draft. Bucks' general manager John Hammond says he's happy to have Jennings, and he has an extremely bright future.

He'll compete with veteran Luke Ridnour for the starting job at point guard.

Restricted free agent Ramon Sessions could also be in the mix if he doesn't sign elsewhere.

The New York Knicks are still said to be interested.

Jennings averaged almost 15 points in five games in the recent NBA Summer League.

And he led the league of young players with just over eight assists per contest. The Bucks had to finish some paperwork with international basketball officials in relation to Jennings' year in Italy, but Hammond said there were no major complications.
