After 45 years, Tom O'Connell was honored four times over for his service to the Hudson Police and Fire Commission.

O'Connell served on the commission from 1972 through 2017. During the common council meeting on Monday, Aug. 7, O'Connell was presented with four plaques from the commission, the fire department, the police department and the city of Hudson.

During this time, O'Connell served as chairman for several years and took part in all the hirings. Fire Chief Scott St. Martin said O'Connell hired all of the more than 40 members currently serving for the fire department.

"You hired me three times," Police Chief Marty Jensen said.

O'Connell said everything he's done over the years has been committee work, carried out by the team that makes up the commission.

"I thank everybody for letting me be part of the city of Hudson," O'Connell said.
