I-94 crash near Black River Falls claims man and grandson

A man killed in a western Wisconsin highway crash was the president of the Mt. Morris Insurance Co. of Coloma.

Howard Fenske, 72, and his grandson Blake Fenske, 8, both died in the mishap.

The crash occurred early Monday day on Interstate Highway 94 near Black River Falls.

According to the State Patrol, an eastbound vehicle driven by a Delaware woman crossed the median and hit the oncoming Fenske vehicle.

The woman, who's said to be in her 50s, was taken to an Eau Claire hospital for treatment.

Fenske's 9-year-old granddaughter was also hurt.

The State Patrol is still trying to figure out why the woman lost control of her vehicle.

Howard Fenske served on the Westfield School Board from 1987-99.
