New dentist is here to brighten smiles

Dr. Anthony Sanchez believes he has a better way of delivering basic dental care to people.

While some dentists are increasingly specialized and hard to schedule an appointment with, the mission of his new Sm:)e dental clinic is to make it easy and affordable for people to get their teeth clean, healthy and white.

Sanchez began seeing patients in his new clinic at 596 Outpost Circle A earlier this month. He comes to Hudson from Eau Claire, where he had a practice with Midwest Dental for six years.

He says his desire to better serve patients and to live closer to his girlfriend in the Twin Cities brought him to Hudson.

"This is a little different than most practices," he said. "We're focusing on prevention. What I'm trying to do is make it easy for people to get their routine needs met."

That translates into expanded 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. office hours Monday through Friday. Sanchez also will see patients by appointment on Saturdays if necessary.

Instead of requiring a full dental exam and X-rays, and making new patients schedule another appointment for teeth cleaning, Sanchez will do it all on the first visit. He, or one of his hygienists, also will simply clean a patient's teeth if that is all they desire.

The number of people with gum disease is a special concern of his. Studies show that 85 to 90 percent of the adult population has a gum infection that can be stopped with the proper treatment, he says.

Sanchez has equipped his office with the latest in dental technology, including a laser cavity detector. He also offers one-hour Zoom II teeth whitening as seen on the TV show "Extreme Make-over" and Invisalign invisible braces for adults.

Sm:)e also offers take-home whitening, periodontal maintenance, sealants, white fillings, cosmetic procedures and crowns, veneers, mouth and bite guards, and sensitive teeth treatment.

Sanchez grew up in Idaho and completed his undergraduate work at Idaho State University. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Dental School.
