City and village collect leaves and more

The city of Hudson has scheduled its self-serve spring leaf collection and wood chip distribution.

Proof of residency may be required.

The free drop-off site for leaf disposal is located at the city West Garage, 1421 Second St., April 25-May 9.

To drop off leaves, take Second Street north to Division, turn west on Division and proceed north to the drop-off site. Hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon-7 p.m., and Saturdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Leaves must be bagged in 90-gallon or smaller bags.

No foreign materials (tires, refrigerators, TVs, etc.), tree limbs or brush will be collected, and no burning of leaves is allowed.

Curbside leaf pickup is available in the city through Veolia Environmental Services for $1 per bag. Pickup must be arranged with Veolia by calling (866) 983-6542. Stickers for the program are for sale at City Hall, County Market and Family Fresh.

Wood chips

City of Hudson residents can pick up free wood chips Saturdays only, April 25-May 9, from 8 a.m. to noon. The site is located off Krattley Lane in North Hudson (take Second Street north through North Hudson, turn right on Krattley Lane, turn right on the Rod & Gun Club Road).

North Hudson

The village of North Hudson will hold a free leaf, pine needle and grass clipping curbside pickup May 4-6. All residents must have their bags out on May 4 at 6:30 a.m.

Waste Management will continue the pickup process until all village streets have been serviced once. Bags weighing no more than 30 pounds -- containing leaves, pine needles or grass clippings only -- can be placed at the curbside for pickup at no cost to North Hudson residents. No brush or branches will be accepted.
