Feb. 23 'Legislative Day' includes lawmaker visits, meets with Walker, Cong. Paul Ryan
EAU CLAIRE -- The Feb. 23rd Momentum West Legislative Day is filled with events and new opportunities this year, say organizers.
Momentum West is "mixing up" the annual trek to Madison by partnering with the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce Business Day at Monona Terrace for "Wisconsin's Premier Legislative Conference", according to program manager Louise Bentley.
The Legislative Day begins with early morning travel from Hudson to Madison, followed by an opening session led by nationally-known political analyst Dr. Larry Sabato, a caucus with this region's 16 state senators and representatives, and a lunch featuring keynote address by FOX News Channel correspondent Stuart Varney.
In the afternoon, participants will have the option to attend pre-arranged small group visits with state legislators at the Capitol to discuss issues of regional concern or stay at Monona Terrace to hear special guest Congressman Paul Ryan. Governor Scott Walker will conclude the day with his address "Wisconsin is Open for Business".
"By partnering with the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce Business Day, Momentum West is able to take our annual Legislative Day to the next level," said Legislative Committee chair Skip Gjolberg. "In addition to our core one-on-one visits with state legislators, we will also be exposed to national speakers and a larger network of colleagues from throughout the state."
Noel Eggebraaten, president of Momentum West said "Legislative Day is a great opportunity to share our regional voice on important issues. We invite community, business and government leaders to join this 10-county effort for purposes of strengthening the area's relationship with state government, better positioning the region in economic development, and networking with leaders from the region and the state."
