Fire department called to I-94 crash and chimney fire Wednesday evening

The Hudson Fire Department was called out twice Wednesday evening, Oct. 30.

At 5:56 p.m., the department responded to a one-vehicle crash on westbound I-94 near the 14th Street on-ramp.

Law enforcement officers, St. Croix Emergency Medical Services and Lower St. Croix Valley EMS from Lakeland, Minn., also responded to the crash according to St. Croix County’s emergency call log.

Hudson Fire Chief Jim Frye said one occupant of the vehicle was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

At 7:56 p.m., Hudson firefighters were called to put out a chimney fire at the Kerry Langer residence, 814 North View Drive, in the town of Hudson. The home is east of the Grand View Park softball fields.

Frye said the house had some smoke in it, but the fire was put out before it caused any damage. Firefighter were at the home for about 45 minutes.
