A 49-year-old Hudson man drove a four-door pickup truck off the end of the Lakefront Park dike road Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 2.

Police say they don't know where Michael Crain was headed when he drove around the garbage dumpsters at the end of the road and went down an embankment, where his late-model GMC Denali hit a tree log blocking his path.

Crain was cited for alleged intoxicated driving.

Hudson Police Sgt. Glen Hartman said authorities received a call at about 2:30 p.m. from a person who saw Crain's vehicle on the dike road, which is closed to normal traffic. The caller reportedly said the driver of the truck appeared to be confused.

Hartman said the Hudson police officer who responded to the call met Crain walking back toward the city after having crashed the truck.

The truck sustained considerable front-end damage when it hit the fallen tree log. A tow company was called and the truck was pulled from the ravine and hauled away.

Crain was taken to the St. Croix County Jail for processing.
