This weekend La Rue Marche, located in Dania Hall at 513 Second Street, is hosting an double anniversary party, celebrating both Val Aune's first anniversary as the owner and ten years since the store opened. The square footage was recently expanded to meet the needs of the customer.

These are not the only changes for the historic building. Brooke Fleetwood recently expanded her business, BB Spa, and Viva Voce is under new ownership by Jayme Mees.

LaRue Marche

La Rue Marche was opened in Hudson in June of 2003 by Lisa Shortridge. While still under her ownership the store had reduced its floor space. Aune has added back that area giving the store two entrances -- one inside Dania Hall and the other on Second Street. One of the biggest changes is that Aune has teamed up with Julie Stow to bring in vintage clothing, purses, furniture and more.

"It means all of our fixtures are for sale," said Aune. "People were always asking if they were for sale and now we can say yes."

"The store is always going to be changing," said Aune, who has brought in more gift items. The anniversary event will feature refreshments and live music. It will be all day, Saturday June 22.

BB Spa

The BB Spa is the place to come for pampering. Brooke Fleetwood recently expanded her business. At the spa customers can enjoy all of the treatments Fleetwood offered at her Aesthetic Amour Beauty Lounge while being able to visit her BB Makeup Cosmetic Bar in the same building.

"We offer facials, lash extensions, body waxing, ear candling, lash tinting and perming," said Fleetwood. "We have something for all ages from eight to 90."

Her makeup line is expanding as well, presently located in Wisconsin, Indiana and North Carolina with locations opening soon in Minnesota.

"We are always looking for our next greatest location," said Fleetwood. For more information, go to

Viva Voce

Jayme Mees, who worked at Viva Voce as a stylist, has purchased the salon and plans to continue to offer the same services and will be developing new ones as well.
