A historical montage featuring Hudson and North Hudson buildings, parks, businesses, schools, landmarks and historic people and landmarks people goes on sale in Hudson this week. The ink drawing will sell for $20 at Kelley gallery and the Historical Societies' Carriage House Gift Shop at the Octagon House.

Proceeds from the sale will go to both the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau and the St. Croix County Historical Society. Both organizations helped promote the artwork project.

Among the historical figures included on the montage are William Phipps, John Spooner, Horace Taylor, Peter Bouchea, Amman Andrews, Louis Massey, Hans Andersen, Willis Miller, Dr. Wilder Penfield and Dr. Otis Hoyt.

The drawing was created by Bruce Loeschen of Austin, Minn. He works for Community Creations, Inc., based in Columbus, Ohio. A graduate of Wartburg College in Iowa, Loeschen has been doing montages in various communities since 1987. NASA is among his clients for which he did a series of pen and ink sketches. He calls his drawings "a time capsule, capturing one moment in the life of a city."

In addition to the historic items and landmarks, Chamber President Kim Heinemann said more than 60 sponsoring businesses are on the montage.

"It is a perfect item for both longtime residents and visitors to our community," Heinemann said.

The 17- by 23-inch montage is suitable for framing. As part of promoting the art work, Barb McNamee of Kelley Galleries said the store is offering special prices for framing and matting the art work.
