Hudson students achieve record high composite score of 24 on ACT test

Hudson students taking the ACT college entrance examination made their best showing ever in 2013.

According to information released by testing service, Hudson students earned an average composite score of 24 as compared to a score of 23.5 in 2012 and a state average in 2013 of 22.1.

The 319 students who took the test earned average scores higher than the previous year in all the test categories, a full point ahead of last year’s science score.

Hudson’s composite score was well ahead of other schools in the area as noted here:

Hudson, 24.0; New Richmond, 23.4; Spring Valley and Eau Claire area, 23.2; River Falls, 22.9; St. Croix Central, 22.8; Chippewa Falls area, 22.6; Prescott, 22.5; Rice Lake and Ellsworth, 22.3; Somerset and Menomonie, 22.1.

The only area school to have more students taking the test than Hudson was Spring Valley, which had 83.3 percent of eligible students taking the ACT. Hudson had 77.4 percent. The state average is 71 percent.

By gender, Hudson male students scored higher with a 24.4 average score as compared to girls who scored 23.6.
