The Hudson Independent Business Association (HiBA) and its participating members celebrated Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, this special event has grown into a nationwide movement.

This year HiBA applied for and won a special “Shop Small” promotional package that enabled its members to hand out 400 shopping totes and 50 $25 American Express gift cards to individuals eating, shopping and experiencing Hudson that day.

“I heard from several people that they waited until Saturday to do their shopping so they could help support our small businesses in town,” said Michele Lindemann, owner of Lavender Thymes in downtown Hudson. “It was wonderful to see everyone in a festive spirit.

“Even though Small Business Saturday may be over, you can still help support locally owned businesses in Hudson this holiday season with your patronage and enter to win the drawing for $25 in HiBA Holiday Dollars at participating member locations.”

A drawing will be held Dec. 17.
