The owners of the former Bob Smith’s Sports Club in downtown Hudson have plans to further renovate the building.

Thursday evening, March 27, the Hudson Plan Commission reviewed a proposal to add an outdoor patio bar at the rear of the building, as well as a deck that would expand the main floor seating area.

Partners Tom Tomaro and Mike Tupa purchased the longtime Hudson business last summer, and after extensive remodeling, reopened it last month under the new name Smilin’ Moose Lodge Bar & Grill.

Hudson Mayor Alan Burchill said the Plan Commission didn’t act on the expansion plans last Thursday. Burchill chairs the commission.

The mayor said questions were raised about how the expansion would affect neighboring properties and the alley behind the business, among other things.

The commission will continue its review of the plan at a future meeting, and ultimately recommend whether or not the City Council should approve it.
