Sunday's Spring Showcase features entertainment and more than 80 businesses

The Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau's 12th annual Spring Showcase is scheduled Sunday, May 4, at the Hudson Sports & Civic Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Spring Showcase is a family friendly, community business expo offering information about area services and products. The event features over 80 businesses, live entertainment, free kids activities, drawings and prizes. Admission is free.

The day features a number of free activities for kids. Among them are cookie decorating with County Market, paint a Piggy Bank with Associated Bank, pet live critters with Carpenter Nature Center and balloon tying with wandering clowns Bullseye and ShyAnn of Anderson Heating.

The also day features a variety of entertainment on stage. The roster includes:

--12 p.m.: Revitalize old furniture, tips and techniques with Farmhouse Inspired.

--12:30 p.m.: Makin’ moves with The Phipps Dance Program.

--1 p.m.: Explore live critters and river life with Carpenter Nature Center.

--2 p.m.: Swinging with Hudson High Swing Choir.

--2:30 p.m.: Hum along with Hudson High Harmony.

--3 p.m.: Featuring fabulous fowl with University of Minnesota Raptor Center.

--4 p.m.: Take a chance on an amazing raffle drawing

Raffle tickets are available for $5 each or 3 for $10 at County Market, Lavender Thymes and the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau, or at the event. You need not be present to win. The raffle is limited to 500 chances.

Prizes include:

--iPad Air: 32 GB valued at $545 (provided by Sam’s Club).

--Mall of America package: One night stay at Radisson Blu, including four wristbands to Nickelodeon Universe, four passes to Moose Mountain Mini Golf, four passes to the Minnesota Zoo. Valued at $420. (provided by Thunder Country Radio – 95.7 FM).

--Movie night package: A year’s worth of pizza, ice cream and movies for two.Valued at $504. (provided by County Market and Hudson 12 Theatre).

--Rain garden package – A hand-painted, artist-original 55-gallon rain barrel, 18 rain garden perennials and a water friendly shrub with a custom rain garden design consultation. Valued at $321. (provided by Sustain Hudson, My Sister’s Garden and Willow River Tree Farm).

--Gas grill and meat package: A backyard gas stainless steel grill with four burners, 4,800 BTU cooking/12,000 BTU (side Burner), integrated ignition, temperature gauge and bottle opener with $100 grill meat package. Valued at $258. (provided by Walmart and RJ’s Meats and Groceries).
