Red Cross Chapter elects new Chair
The new board and officers of the St. Croix Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross were elected at the chapter's 91st annual meeting. Activities at the meeting included recognition of certain members and volunteers and a reflection on the past year of community service.
Jan George, the chapter's executive director, thanked outgoing chapter chair Tim Deans for his hard work and presented him with a special pin to honor his service.
"Tim has worked tirelessly to keep our chapter's focus on providing emergency services and community education." George said.
Deans is a long-time volunteer for the Red Cross who started in youth services at 10 years of age. He has been nominated to serve on the national advisory council of the American Red Cross.
Lisa Holsten was unanimously elected as the chapter's new board chair. Holsten, served the last three years as the financial development chair.
"I plan to continue our mission with emphasis on disaster relief and safety education but see the next few years as challenging," Holsten said. "The Red Cross national organization is undergoing major restructuring, our emergency services are often in heavy demand and fund-raising is becoming tougher than ever in the flat economy".
George said "Lisa is a great volunteer who really takes the job to heart and is very dedicated,"
