Hudson's Sprint retailer has big plans
Sprint by ASW is a preferred Sprint retailer. Manager Chris Ryan, originally from Peoria, Ill., is a Hudson resident. Sprint offers wireless service, home phone service and phone air cards.
"The vision for Sprint is to have a seamless network," said Ryan. "It is to have the largest network. We have more towers than anyone else and our biggest feature is that we offer unlimited data."
The Hudson store not only offers a wide selection of phones and accessories, they are an authorized service and repair center. The biggest recent change for the wireless network is that it began carrying the Apple iPhone in the fall of 2011.
"The life of a phone is about six to nine months before a new model comes out," said Ryan. "Technology changes that quickly."
The owners of the store have a long and successful history in the industry. Phoenix Distributing, Inc., now doing business as Sprint by ASW, was founded in 1976 as a company working with two-way radios. In the mid 1990s they began to sell Nextel in B2B channels; in 2001 they opened Nextel retail stores and service centers; in 2005 they became exclusive Preferred Sprint Retailers, dba Sprint by ASW. This spring the 24th store will be opened. The company headquarters is in Burnsville, Minn., and all but two stores are in Minnesota with most in the Twin Cities Metro area. The current president is Michael Hartell. The company is basically family owned and operated.
Hours of the Hudson store are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
They have four employees. For more information, call (715) 377-7347. A Sprint booth will be part of the Spring Showcase this Sunday at the Hudson Civic Center.
