Hudson police and St. Croix County deputies were canvassing downtown Hudson late Thursday morning, trying to find an individual who made a threat in a local bank and escaped with "a substantial amount of cash", according to law enforcement radio transmissions.

Authorities were notified of the robbery at First State Bank & Trust, 219 Second St., about 10:45 a.m.

The suspect was described as a possible Hispanic female, thin build and about 5-foot, eight inches tall, dressed in black and green, wearing sunglasses and a hat. She apparently escaped in a vehicle but no description was available.

Radio reports indicated the suspect threatened that she had a gun but none was seen.

She reportedly stuffed the cash into a larger, black shoulder purse.

At last report, officers were monitoring comings and goings on the waterfront, at the I-94 bridge and downtown.

Updates will be posted when available.
