Lock your cars, says sheriff
A rash of car break-ins and thefts in the rural Hudson area has prompted St. Croix County Sheriff Dennis Hillstead to issue a warning to area residents to secure their cars.
"People should always lock the car and put electronic devices out of sight," he said Monday.
The thieves have apparently been targeting the rural areas and items in plain view.
"They have gone after GPS devices, CD players, computers and other electronics," Hillstead said.
In some cases the cars were sitting unlocked in the driveway of a home with computers or GPS units in view. In a few other more recent situations in the town of Hudson, the thieves broke car windows to gain access, he said.
