Somerset man arrested in stabbing incident
A Somerset man has been arrested on an attempted homicide charge following a stabbing incident early Sunday morning.
Ryan William Vadnais, 28, was booked into the St. Croix County Jail Sunday on attempted first-degree homicide and aggravated battery charges following the investigation of an altercation with Scott M. Germain, 48, the sheriff's report said.
The incident occurred about 4 a.m. Sunday at 405 169th Ave., town of Somerset, where both men lived at the time. Vadnais was booked into jail with an Osceola address.
Vadnais appeared for a bond hearing Monday and was ordered to post $100,000 cash bail. He remained in jail Tuesday and was expected to make an initial appearance on formal charges from the district attorney's office Wednesday.
St. Croix County Sheriff John Shilts said Germain was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with a black handled kitchen knife stuck in his back. He was in the intensive care unit at Regions Monday.
A hospital spokesperson said Germain was in fair condition early Tuesday afternoon.
