Hudson alum selected as student services director

Anthony (Tony) Mayer

Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten will recommend to the Board of Education at its June 11 meeting the appointment of Anthony (Tony) Mayer as the new Student Services Director. Mayer is a 1992 Hudson High School graduate.

For the last five years, Mayer has served as a special education administrator in the White Bear Lake Area School District. In this role, he has had a depth of experience in special education program design, implementation and evaluation. Prior to his work in White Bear Lake, he served as a school psychologist in Stillwater, Forest Lake and Anoka-Hennepin school districts.

Mayer's selection came as a result of a hiring process that involved 16 district employees. Through the interview process, Mayer was identified as a collaborative problem solver, an insightful leader, an intelligent learner, a clear communicator, and a listener who values all perspectives. Mayer's colleagues and supervisors spoke highly of his skills, talents, and contributions to White Bear Lake.

"As a long time community member and graduate of Hudson High School, I am thrilled to be joining the District," Mayer said. "During high school the staff at Hudson High School helped me identify my strengths, challenged me as a learner, and genuinely cared about me. Today, these qualities continue to define Hudson School District staff, and have led to incredible student growth. It is an honor to be joining the team, and serving the students of our community."

Bowen-Eggebraaten said "We are fortunate to find, right in our own backyard, such an outstanding candidate with Tony's leadership experience, abilities, and values who is already committed to the district."

With the Board's approval, Mayer will begin his service in the Hudson School District on July 1. He will replace Cory McIntyre who accepted a job in the Twin Cities.
