The food shelf at St. Patrick Church was bustling with activity Friday as volunteers helped unload a semi-trailer full of donated food.

The day began around 8:30 a.m. when the truck left County Market to make the rounds to local schools to pick up the goods.

“It’s really a needed drive,” said Nancy Briske, who runs the food shelf and helps organize Stuff the Truck.

When all was said and done, nearly 17,000 pounds of food was unloaded, organized and staged.

Doug Lowe, who heads up the County Market side of the food drive, said the schools were all ready with their donations to help load the truck.
