Middle school instrumental concert is Thursday night
The Hudson Middle School Music Department is presenting a spring orchestra and band concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21, in the high school auditorium.
Participating in the concert will be the Seventh Grade Orchestra performing the allegro movement from Vivaldi's "Concerto in D Major," "Cello Song" and "Cruising the Caribbean."
The Eighth Grade Orchestra will play "Orange Blossom Special" and "Follow the Drinking Gourd."
The Eighth Grade Symphony Orchestra (strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion) will perform Beethoven's "Egmont Overture."
Also performing will be a guest piano trio that will play the andante con moto movement of the Brahms "Trio in C Major."
The combined Seventh Grade Bands will play "Chattannooga Choo Choo," "Silverbrook" and "Russian Sailor's Dance."
Concluding the concert will be the Eighth Grade Band performing "Moscow-1941," a "Medley of Music from Cars" and the allegro movement of the William Tell Overture.
Conducting the middle school orchestras is Jack Young. Band directors are Connie Root and Carl Meincke.
