Area resident appointed to state board
Ronald Jansen is gearing up to serve on his third state board after a new appointment by Gov. Scott Walker to the Wisconsin Council on Physical Disabilities.
Jansen will serve a two-year term on the council as he is filling a newly vacant position. The council’s mission includes developing a state plan, raising awareness and encouraging the development of programs for those with physical disabilities.
Jansen said he wanted to be a part of this board to help make a difference in Wisconsin for people with disabilities.
“To get them back to a normal life,” he said.
As a former corrections officer hurt on duty, Jansen said he is especially interested in supporting civil servants.
“I hate to see people who are talented and want to work but can’t,” he said. “If they want to work let’s find them a job.”
Jansen has previously served on the Wisconsin Rehabilitation Council and the Wisconsin Independent Living Council.
