Hudson Dog Park completes fundraising
With a total of more than $20,000, the Hudson Dog Owners Association has met its fundraising goal for a dog park.
Association chair Anne Wasmund presented to the council at its meeting on Monday, July 3. The money includes $5,000 from the SPARK grant that the group won in September, as well as an additional $2,000 from a Salon Ultimissimo fundraiser that puts them over the $20,000 goal. Money from the SPARK grant must be used by October of this year.
With the funding goal for the association reached, Wasmund said she would like to see the city move forward with the project and identify a funding source for the remaining cost. Estimates for the park are between $35,000 and $40,000.
The association will be back at a future meeting to present a detailed plan for the park, and then will be ready to go out for bids.
"Our association is committed to continuing the support for the dog park," Wasmund said.
The park will be located at Grandview Park and will cover about 2 acres.
"We're confident this is going to be a wonderful addition to the city parks system," Wasmund said.
