Sister Bernadette Kalscheur, 92

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, Sr. Bernadette Kalscheur SSSF died peacefully at the Sacred Heart Center in Milwaukee.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1921, in Pine Bluff, Wis., the 15th child of Helen and Herman Kalscheur. In 1937 she became Sr. Herman after taking her first vows to become a School Sister of Saint Francis. Sr. Bernadette served as the pastoral minister at St. Patrick's (Hudson) from 1992-2008. Her title here may have been pastoral minister, but to many she was a friend a mentor, and an inspiration.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at St. Joseph's Convent Chapel, Milwaukee. A Memorial Eulogy will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15, at Sacred Heart Center, Milwaukee. Burial will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Milwaukee. Guestbook at

Mass at St. Patrick Church at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, will be in memory of Sr. Bernadette. Friends of Sr. Bernadette are invited to stay for hospitality after Mass and a chance to share their favorite Sr. B memories. A memorial fund that will benefit St. Patrick's sister parish in Guatemala has been set up in Sr. Bernadette's honor.
