Pepper Fest Committee invite all to join in the fun

The North Hudson Pepper Fest is scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday with most events at Pepper Fest Park in North Hudson.

The three-day celebration honors the community’s Italian heritage and features Italian food, a carnival, parade, bingo, beer garden, coronation, cooking contest, spaghetti and pepper eating contests and much more. Gates open at 6 p.m. Friday. A button is required for entry.

Proceeds from the Pepper Fest are donated and granted to various working groups and organizations serving the North Hudson and Hudson area.


The grand parade is Saturday, Aug.17, at 11 a.m. The parade begins at the intersection of Lemon and Michaelson streets North and west down Michaelson, then south on 6th St. No. (Hwy. 35) to St. Croix St. No.

Cooking contest

The Cooking Contest is Sunday, Aug 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. outside the Village Hall. Categories include adult and 14 and under. Adult categories include appetizer/side dish, main dish or dessert. Under 14 is chef’s choice. Each dish must contain peppers. Maximum of two entries per person or one entrée per category per age group. Participants must bring recipe and power cord if needed. Registration forms can be found at and should be filled out prior to contest start. Winners will be announced at Coronation. For more information, contact Anita at (715) 381-1683.

Eating contests

The Championship Spaghetti Eating Contest begins at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Teams of five will eat one pound of spaghetti each to compete for the top prize of $75 and championship T-shirts. Second place team earns $50. The entry fee is $25/team.

The Championship Pepper Eating Contest begins at 6 p.m. Saturday. Teams of five will eat one pound of hot peppers each to compete for top prize of $200 and Championship T-shirts. Second place team earns $100. The entry fee is $50/team.


Bands at the fest are: Friday 8 p.m.-midnight, 8 Foot 4; Saturday 8 p.m.-midnight, JUG; and Sunday, 7:30-11:30 p.m., The Dweebs.


Introductions of Royalty and Candidates are Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Royal Coronation is Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Tractor pull

The Children’s Tractor Pull takes is Sunday, Aug. 18. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the pulling begins at noon. This event is open to boys and girls, ages 4-12. Top three pullers in each category will win a trophy.
