The Raider gymnastics team kicked off the season on a high note by placing second at the six-team Simley Invitational Saturday, Dec. 2, in Inver Grove Heights.

Hudson finished with a team score of 128.2, just seven-tenths of a point behind first place Bloomington-Jefferson.

Three Raiders finished in the top ten in the all-around competition, including freshmen Caroline Erickson and Amber Robey who placed third and eighth, respectively, in their varsity debuts. Returning junior Maia Malchow added a ninth place score of 31.2.

Erickson also finished fourth on the uneven bars with a score of 8.5 and Robey was fourth on the balance beam with 8.15 while Malchow took fifth on the beam with 8.05.

This year's squad features three strong returning seniors—Anna Lane, Emma Newman, and Taylor Owens—and a host of newcomers including seven freshmen.

The Raiders hosted their first home meet of the season this past Tuesday, Dec. 5, against Chippewa Falls and will compete in the Chippewa Falls Invitational Saturday Dec. 9, beginning at 11 a.m.
