Swimmers stay perfect in duals

The Raider boys swimming and diving team improved to 3-0 in dual meets this season with a 99-70 victory over Watertown-Mayer Friday, Dec. 8, and a 110-68 win over Tartan Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Hudson swept the top three spots in the 500 yard freestyle and took two of the top three places in five other events in the win over Watertown-Mayer.

Steven Asmus won the 500 free with a time of 5 minutes, 2.25 seconds, Ethan Hanson was second in 5:33.48 and Jonathan Bennett took third in 5:38.46.

Asmus also won the 200 individual medley in 2:08.48 and Adam Berdusco was second in 2:15.27 while Hanson took first in the 200 breaststroke in 1:06.9 and Berdusco was second in 1:09.18. In the 100 yard backstroke, Alex Weaver took first with a time of 1:01.15, edging John Cooper Ramthun's second place time of 1:01.44.

Weaver also won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.31 while Ramthun won the 100 butterfly in 58.63 seconds.

The Raider relays performed well with Asmus, Hanson, Weaver and Erik Small teaming up for a first place time of 1:46.57 in the 200 medley relay, and Ramthun, Berdusco, Vaughn Kromrey and Eric Wanken second in 1:53.22.

in the 400 freestyle relay, Ramthun, Jacob Krusell, Weaver and Asmus combined for a first place time of 3:31.11, while in the 200 freestyle relay, Hanson, Kromrey, Krusell and Bennett took second in 1:41.74 and Jackson Coyer, Daniel Lytle, Berdusco and Wanken were third in 1:44.49.

Small added a second place time of 23.65 seconds in the 50 freestyle while Krusell was second in the 100 freestyle in 53.72.

Last Tuesday against Tartan, Hudson swept first place in the first ten events before swimming the final two events as exhibitions in a 110-68 victory.

Asmus and Small won two individual events each and helped two more relay teams to first place finishes. Asmus won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:06.24 and the 100 butterfly in 57.06 seconds, while Small won the 50 freestyle in 23.34 seconds and the 100 free in 50.86.

Asmus, Hanson, Weaver and Small teamed up for a first place time of 1:47.37 in the 200 medley relay, while Asmus, Wanken, Kromrey and Small took first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:38.41.

Weaver added a first place time of 5:14.59 in the 500 freestyle and Ramthun took first in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.69 while Berdusco was first in the 200 free in 2:04.15.

The Raiders hosted White Bear Lake this past Tuesday, Dec. 19 before a double dual with Superior and River Falls Friday, Jan. 5, in Superior.
