Boys Soccer: Raiders win BRC opener

Kolton Prater and Paul Phillipson scored two goals apiece and Prater assisted on three other goals as the Hudson boys' soccer team rolled past Eau Claire North, 7-1, in the Big Rivers Conference opener for both teams Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Eau Claire.

Prater assisted on Hudson's first goal off the foot of Connor Johnson seven minutes into the match before Phillipson scored twice, unassisted in the 26th minute and from Prater four minutes later.

Phillipson returned the favor on Prater's first goal three minutes later and Chase MacArther scored just before halftime with an assist from Ryan Moothedan to extend Hudson's lead to 5-0.

Moothedan found the back of the net early in the second half off an assist from Prater to make it a 6-0 game before North spoiled the shutout in the 73rd minute before Prater notched his second goal of the game with an assist from Corey Denning to make the final 7-1.

Denning and Jared Biederman combined for six saves as the Raiders outshot the Huskies 16-10.

It was Hudson's first win of the season after opening last week with nonconference losses to Woodbury and Green Bay Preble.
