Chiyoko Penman, age 82 of Hudson, died peacefully Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Comforts of Home in Hudson. Chiyoko was born on January 1, 1935 in Japan, the daughter of Hotei and Oshigei Uehara. She was raised in Japan where she attended school. She would meet Thomas Penman, a young serviceman from the United States Air Force while working at an officers club on a US base in Japan. She and Tom would become best friends and they would be later be united in marriage on June 26, 1968 at the United States Embassy in Japan. This union would be further blessed with the birth of children, Jeffrey and Dawn. The Penman's would make the United States their home in 1970. She was a devoted homemaker who loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren later in life. She took great pleasure and taking them to the Kinnickinnic River, the River Falls Public Library, or the park to play. She was proud of her Japanese heritage; whether cooking or dancing. She enjoyed tending to and harvesting vegetables from her garden and feeding her pet birds and turtles.
Chiyoko will remain in the hearts of her son, Jeff (Nicki) Penman of Ellsworth; daughter, Dawn Wade of Hudson; grandchildren, Aven, Nolan, Cameron; her extended family in Japan; as well as her extended Penman family. Her parents, her husband, Thomas, and her parents-in-law Gordy and Delores Penman precede her in death.
A Time of Reflection for Chiyoko was held on Tuesday, December 19 at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Funeral services had been entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home and Countryside Crematory.
