Lillian A. Taibain, age 93, died on December 28, 2017 at Red Cedar Canyon in Hudson. Lillian was born on November 14, 1924 to John and Anna (Kaczmarek) Boncela in Chicago, Illinois. On Aug 30, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph Taibain, at St. Joseph's Church in Chicago, Il. This union became blessed with a daughter, Donna. Lillian spent many years as a homemaker, raising her daughter and tending to their home until Joseph's passing in 1970, after which she joined the work force. She spent 15 years with the Wrigley Chewing Gum Company in Chicago until her retirement in 1986. Lillian's laugh was contagious. She spoke the truth with an outstanding confidence. She enjoyed unwinding with a gin and tonic made with Bombay Sapphire Gin. Lillian was an avid baker and had quite the sweet tooth; she never missed the opportunity to share a wonderful meal. In her retirement, Lillian enjoyed spending time in casinos, polka dancing, and traveling with her senior club. She was very proud of her Polish heritage, and was able to speak the language fluently. Lillian was committed to her Catholic faith and often placed her trust in the Lord throughout difficult times. She was a devoted grandmother and adored her grandsons. She placed a firm value on the importance of her family. Lillian will remain in the hearts of her daughter, Donna (Bruce) Leonard; grandsons, Andrew (and special friend, Angela) Leonard, as well as Michael (Samantha) Leonard and their labradoodle, Stanley; sister, Alice Pedzimaz; goddaughter, Barbara Pedzimaz; as well as many nieces, a nephew, other extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Joseph; her parents; sister, Evelyn Schiller; and brother, John Boncela. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00PM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, WI., with a prayer service at 6:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St, Hudson, WI, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will take place at a later date. Services have been entrusted to the O'Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, WI. Donations may be made to St. Patrick Church in Hudson or the Poor Clare sisters in Kokomo, IN in Lillian's memory. The family wishes to thank the staff at Red Cedar Canyon for the love and care extended to Lillian.
