07/04/2008 12:00 AM What would a Hudson entertainment column be without references to killer karaoke and other kinds of contests? A karaoke-singing assistant director for SOS Players said she’s been acting since age 4, but avoids musicals like the plague since she fears singing in front of groups.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM I would like to thank the Star-Observer for its article on the four HHS alumni who have recently completed their medical degrees. While graduation from medical school is in itself an impressive personal achievement, what I find especially interesting is that each one of these new doctors credits their Hudson High School education with setting them on the path they are on today.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM The local apparatchik intelligentsia (writer is referring to the school district) and their minions have started their quest to spread their propaganda. Their graft collectivist minds have been relentless in trying to push their propaganda into the minds of the citizenry.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM It never ceases to amaze me how these developers such as BrightKeys can try and use threats of going under to essentially try and build commercial around residential developments simply to line their pocket books.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM Hudson has an opportunity to have one of the finest and most unique communities in this area, and I hope the planning commission doesn’t let the opportunity pass by. The growth of Heritage Greens development has been at a standstill for some time now.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM As another reader wrote last week, I too am puzzled and disappointed by your editorial of June 12 touting Wisconsin’s drop to 11th place in taxes paid as something to celebrate.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM I’m writing in regards to the story in the Star-Observer (June 26) titled “Runner with local ties to compete in transplant games.” The generosity of live organ donors like Jim Hubbard is wonderful.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM In your recent editorial on gas prices, you say that the mood of the country has shifted. Unfortunately, this mood shift has been inspired more by misinformation being disseminated by the oil and gas industry than by reality.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM Led by Chairman Buck Malick, the St. Croix County Board of Adjustment voted 3-2 last week to allow Heartland Montessori School Inc. to open its busy tax-exempt school in the middle of our quiet residential neighborhood on Red Brick Road in the town of Troy.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM Your article on the death of the two brothers was not only unprofessional, but also bordered on being downright cruel. The reporter and editor of your paper should be ashamed of themselves for causing further pain to the survivors, and unnecessary humiliation.
07/04/2008 12:00 AM In the past few years the effort to bring a reasonable concealed carry law into Wisconsin have all been thwarted by our anti-gun Gov. Doyle. Wisconsin is one of only two states to have no provision for lawful concealed carry.
07/02/2008 12:00 AM Booster Days is celebrated in Hudson this weekend, and the summer event offers citizens an opportunity to support one of the area’s hardest working groups — the Hudson Boosters. In turn, your support goes directly to benefit area youth.
06/27/2008 12:00 AM Throughout my 21 years of life I’ve had a number of interesting jobs. How in the world I’ve gotten myself into some of them, I have no idea. But I’ve managed to stumble into a few situations that often provide great stories in the future – no matter how rough I thought I had it at the time.
06/27/2008 12:00 AM In response to Dew Johnson’s letter in last week’s Star-Observer and to all North Hudson residents, the point of the access to Hwy 35 is not to please the customers but to help keep heavy traffic off of Station Lane.
06/27/2008 12:00 AM On June 17 I called home after lunch to see how our girls were doing. I found out my nearly 14-year-old daughter had been knocked off Townsvalley Road south of Hudson by a passing car while riding her bicycle.
06/27/2008 12:00 AM I made one of the worst decisions of my life on the night of June 3, 2007. I was one of the students involved in the vandalism of the high schools in Western Wisconsin. I still wonder what was going through my head that night, but regardless it is only right to take full responsibility for my actions.
06/27/2008 12:00 AM On June 18 at 5 p.m., a young man walked up our long driveway, knocked on our door and said, “I’m taking contributions to become a manager.”
06/27/2008 12:00 AM Have any of you noticed not a single one of the letter writers who support Heartland Montessori’s efforts to open a school on Red Brick Road happens to live on Red Brick Road?
06/27/2008 12:00 AM It may have been a cute little church in its youth, but now, as an aging, neglected, and unhealthy Lake St. Croix Beach City Hall, it needs to go.
06/25/2008 12:00 AM The Star-Observer’s online poll is not scientific, but we believe it generally reflects what people are thinking. What they are thinking in the latest poll is that it’s time to start drilling for oil in areas that have been off limits in the past.
06/20/2008 12:00 AM You have to be kidding me. Do you really think the residents of North Hudson care whether they have to enter the parking lot for the proposed North Hudson grocery store from Station Street or 6th Street North (Hwy 35)?
06/20/2008 12:00 AM The question whether Heartland Montessori School should be allowed to operate on Red Brick Road in Troy Township is not about its qualifications and service provided. The issue is: does a busy school fit in our quiet, rural neighborhood?
06/20/2008 12:00 AM Last night I had the pleasure of attending an informative talk on the Healthy Wisconsin health care reform bill by one of its sponsors, State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout who lives on a farm in Alma.
06/20/2008 12:00 AM Recently I returned from Germany in my first civilian capacity, having been there twenty-two years ago with NATO forces, and the changes were more than dramatic. Out of the ashes has risen a magnificent nation with many of the characteristics that we as Americans could emulate.
06/20/2008 12:00 AM Why is the price of gas so high and why does it go up immediately after any small change in even the public perception of possible reduction of availability of the product? The answer is that the price is completely manipulated from the time it is drawn out of the ground until the consumer pumps the final product into his gas tank.
06/20/2008 12:00 AM Shame on you Star Observer! Your article regarding the Knoll brothers is alarming and unprofessional. What was your staff thinking? Is this type of personal medical information salient? What public interest is served by disclosing this information?
06/20/2008 12:00 AM Cocker Spaniel Resources is a public charity under tax Code 501(c)(3) of the IRS. We are rescue, rehabilitate, rehome and retire cocker spaniels and cocker spaniel mixes for the states of Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri.
06/20/2008 12:00 AM I would like to express my appreciation to the Hudson Theater for finding my wallet and for calling me back so that I could come back to pick it up.
06/20/2008 12:00 AM I made a very poor decision. I was involved in vandalism on June 3, 2007 to the high schools in the surrounding area. I accept complete responsibility for my actions and hope to redeem myself through restitution, apologies, community service and probation.
