Letter: Concerned about bill

Dear Editor,

Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Florida, has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.

The bill creates detention camps in U.S. for "emergencies," however, the sweeping, undefined purpose raises worries about a military police state for domestic affairs. Unreported by the mainstream media, this bill concerns most citizens that fear these centers could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents.

The bill also appears to expand the president's emergency power, giving the president the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.

I guess the Chosen One's administration is terrified of us gun totin', Constitution lovin', freedom lovin', over-taxed citizens and veterans who are now, by decree of the Department of Homeland Security, all defined as "right wing extremists."

How's that "hope and change" working out for you now?
