Softball team ends tough week by taking a title

The Raider softball had some fine individual performances, and they ended a difficult week, where they played seven games, by taking the Robbinsdale-Cooper championship.

South Saint Paul went south when facing the Raider baseball team, but Chippewa Falls simply refused to fall. Hudson beat the team from Minnesota 6-1, but lost to the squad from western Wisconsin 3-2.

Raider girls thinclads beat wind and all but Rochester Mayo

The Raider girls track team couldn’t quite pass the Mayo at the Rochester True Team meet on Saturday, but they creamed everybody else. Katie Cumming broke meet records in the 1600 and 3200 meters and was named Girls Track Athlete of the Meet.

Newcomers help Rats win marathon session

It was a marathon session lasting most of Sunday afternoon, but the Hudson-based River Rats improved to 2-0 with a non-conference baseball win over the Minneapolis Angels, 7-6 in 11 innings.

Netters blank CF, Centennial’s too strong

The Raider tennis team sent Chippewa Falls packing 7-0, but there was no Centennial celebration, as the Minnesota squad beat Hudson 5-2. As has been typical, there were plenty of 6-0 and 6-1 sets going around.

Distance runners, throwers weigh in, aid runner-up finish

The distance runners and weight throwers led the Raider boys track team to a second-place finish at the Old Abe Relays last Tuesday. Good as that was, they almost returned from Eau Claire with a win.

Raider softball gets 7-0 win, but that’s all the play weather will allow

It was a frustrating week for Hudson softball because of bad weather, as the Raiders were scheduled for five games, but only one was able to be completed. The good news is that Hudson is still ranked sixth in state, and they shutout Prescott 7-0.
