Second Hamm brother drops off Olympic team

Gymnast Morgan Hamm of Waukesha has withdrawn from the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team.

He said his left ankle was bothering him for a year and it got worse since he arrived in Beijing last week.

Hamm said the ankle did not respond well after his podium training Wednesday. He says he cannot perform his tumbling skills at the level he needs to and he doesn't want to put himself or Team USA at risk.

Hamm's twin brother Paul withdrew from the Olympic team last month.

Paul, the 2004 Olympic champion, said a hand he broke in May did not adequately heal in time for the Beijing Games, which start this weekend.

USA Gymnastics is still trying to decide who will replace Morgan Hamm. Rav Bhavsar is replacing Paul Hamm.
