WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Hudson's Ryan Kromer was the fastest runner of the Division 1 boys' race at Saturday's WIAA State Cross Country Meet at The Ridges Golf Course.

Kromer's winning time was 15:27, :10 seconds ahead of runner-up McKena Ramos of Sheboygan South. Kromer was in the lead pack of runners through the first and second miles and then broke away near the end of the race.

"Last year I faded towards the end I didn't want that to happen again," Kromer said. "This is a tough course but I paced myself really well and felt the strength to be able to pull away."

Kromer won the sectional title last week with a time of 15:45. Last year at state he finished fourth in 15:47.

Hudson's girls team finished 11th out of 20 schools competing in the D-1 meet with 282 points. Sadie Kroll had the Raiders top finish in 32nd in 15:19.
