Appleton's Hayes ties at John Deere Classic

Appleton native J.P. Hayes finished in a tie for ninth at the PGA's John Deere Classic in Silvis, Ill.

Hayes shot a one-over-par 72 in his final round Sunday to finish 12-under at 272.

Kenny Perry, Jay Williamson, and Brad Adamonis were all at minus-16 at the end of regulation. Perry won the tournament in a one-hole playoff.

Jerry Kelly of Madison tied for 18th at 10-under. Pewaukee native Mark Wilson tied for 69th at minus-one and Rhinelander native Dan Forsman tied for 72nd place at one-over.

Kelly is now off to this week's British Open after learning on Friday that he qualified. Perry and the others are heading to Milwaukee for the U.S. Bank Championship which starts on Thursday.
