James Jones leads NFL in receiving touchdowns

James Jones of the Green Bay Packers leads the NFL with 12 receiving touchdowns this year.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers thinks he knows why. Rodgers said Jones has become more focused and "dialed in" ever since he and his wife Tamika had their first child, also named James.

Many of Jones' touchdowns came in the red zone. Rodgers says he's been the most open receiver within the opponents' 20.

Whenever it's a jump-ball in the end zone, Rodgers says Jones has come down with them. The quarterback calls Jones a tremendous team player. He hopes Jones gets consideration for his first Pro Bowl in just over a month.

Packers focus on Titans

The Packers are focused on beating the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, but they're also focused on beating the elements.

First-year players from the South are getting their biggest challenge from Mother Nature, as 10 to 15 inches of snow are predicted for Thursday in the Green Bay area.

The Packers have a large indoor practice facility. That's no problem, but getting there could be.

Coach Mike McCarthy said he mentioned the forecast in his team meeting yesterday. He said some players are going through a big snowstorm for the first time. They've told him, "Don't worry, I have a truck."

McCarthy tells them they'll need more than a truck. They'll also need a lot of gas for the snow-blower.

Pay increase for new Badgers coach

Gary Andersen is getting a very nice raise to become Wisconsin's next football coach. He made over $700,000 in his final season at Utah State, including incentives.

The Wisconsin State Journal cited UW sources as saying that Andersen will make $1.8 million to $2 million a year.

That matches what Kevin Graham of KFAN radio in Salt Lake City wrote on Twitter. Graham said Andersen will get a five-year contract at Madison which will pay him $1.8 million the first year, with raises of $100,000 each season.

Former coach Bret Bielema was expected to get $2.7 million next year, had he not left for Arkansas. Andersen is expected to be introduced Friday as Bielema's replacement.
