Loncar earns Ray Guy Top 10 status

Hudson senior Michael Loncar (67) was recently named to the Ray Guy/ Kicking Academy 2012 National Kicking Championship Top 10 Leader board.

Tampa, Fla. - The Ray Guy/ Kicking Academy has recently announced that Michael Loncar of Hudson High School has been named to its 2012 National Kicking Championship Top 10 Leaderboard.

Loncar was within an elite group of high school athletes that attended the Ray Guy/ National Kicking Championship held in Tampa, Fla., recently. The National Kicking Championship gives kickers, punters, and long snappers the opportunity to go "head to head" in competition with the nation's top prospects. The competition is strategically scheduled at the end of football season -- and just before national signing day in February. This is vital timing for athletes to perform at their "end of season" optimum performance level. It is also a crucial time for college recruiters to finalize their scholarship decisions and even seek new talent to add to their recruiting list for the future.

Athletes who attended the National Kicking Championship were individually evaluated and graded on facets of kicking, punting, and long snapping such as accuracy, timing, and distance. Loncar's performances put him at the top of the list. His scores and profile can be found at , along with complete rankings.

Countless participants of the Ray Guy/ Kicking Academy have gone on to earn college scholarships, and continually set new standards on the collegiate and professional levels. Presently there are 707 alumni on college rosters and 18 alumni active on NFL rosters. There is no other camp program even close to having more players who have earned scholarships to colleges or who are actively playing professional football.

Notable camp alums include NFL and NCAA record holders: Shane Lechler (NFL Career Punting Leader), Billy Bennett (NCAA All-Time Field Goal Scoring leader), Daniel Sepulveda (NCAA Career Punting Average leader), and Nick Harris (NCAA Career Yardage and Number of Punts leader). There have also been five Lou Groza Award winners and numerous named to All-America teams.

Loncar helped the Raider football team to a record of 11-1, a Big Rivers Conference championship and a berth in the WIAA state semifinals for the first time in school history. The 11 wins are also the most ever for a Hudson football program.
