Green Bay Packers set 90-man spring roster

The Green Bay Packers will set their 90-man spring roster Monday, May 13, after wrapping up their rookie camp Sunday.

Coach Mike McCarthy called it one of his better rookie camps, if not the best, since he came to Green Bay in 2006. He said the practices were more efficient than most, and players were more adept to getting on the same page.

McCarthy said one of the standouts of the weekend was Kansas State running back Angelo Pease, who had just 60 carries for 333 yards in his final year of college.

McCarthy said rookie camp often confirms a player's movement and athletic ability, and he said Pease scored high on both. Pease expects to compete with two other rookies and three veterans for the starting running back job.

McCarthy also said that B.J. Coleman would compete with Graham Harrell at training camp for the No. 2 quarterback job behind Aaron Rodgers. Coleman was on Green Bay's practice squad last year. McCarthy said Coleman's not doing some things the way he was taught, but he's still making progress.

Tiger Woods wins PGA tournament

Madison golfers Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly both tied for 37th at The Players Championship near Orlando. Stricker was 13th going into Sunday's final round, but he closed with a four-over-par 76 to finish at two-under 286.

Kelly shot a two-over 74 in his final round. He also finished at minus two for the tournament.

Tiger Woods won his second Players Championship and his first since 2001. He finished at 13-under 275 for his 78th career PGA Tour victory.
