Stanchik, Roeder headline All-BRC Team

Hudson seniors Seth Stanchik and Nate Roeder have both been named to the 2008-09 All-Big Rivers Conference Boys Basketball First Team while classmate Ben Gresmer received Honorable Mention.

Conference coaches named five players to the first team, five more to the second team and eight for honorable mention. Hudson is the only school to have two players named to the first team.

Stanchik, a 6-foot, 4-inch post player, and Roeder, a 5-11 guard, were the top two scorers in the BRC this season while leading the Raiders to the conference championship with a record of 10-2 (15-6 overall).

Stanchik, who was named to the All-BRC First Team for the second straight season, led the conference in scoring with an average of 18.4 points per game while Roeder, who earned Honorable Mention in 2007-08 as a junior, was second with 18.2.

Gresmer, a 6-4 forward, averaged 9 points per game to earn postseason accolades for the first time.

Stanchik and Roeder were joined on the First Team by Alex Culy of Rice Lake, Dustin Kalien of Chippewa Falls and Tyler Brown of Eau Claire North. Culy was named the BRC Player of the Year.

Named to the Second Team were Cole Zweifelhofer of Chippewa Falls, Keegan Meier of Eau Claire Memorial, and Eric Gilbertson, Sean Gilbert and Lance Westberg of River Falls.
