The UW-La Crosse women's track & field team captured its third straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship May 2 at UW-Oshkosh. It is the Eagles' 25th conference title in school history.

Helping to win the title was Megan Knutson, a 2006 Hudson High School graduate. At HHS she participated in cross country, tennis and soccer but not track. Now a junior at UW-La Crosse, Knutson is a three-year letter winner in soccer and has added track as a second sport.

In indoor track season she has participated in the 3K, the mile and the 800 meter individual races. With improved times during the season she was able to make it to the conference finals in the mile run, held in Menomonie in March where she recorded a personal best time of 5:22 to end the indoor season.

Running for the Eagles during the spring outdoor season Knutson has continued to run a variety of distances. For the conference finals the coaches asked her to run the 4 X 800 meter relay. The 3,200 meter run, equivalent to approximately two miles, has each running completing a half mile, or two laps then handing off the baton for the next runner's effort.

With a fourth-place team finish in the 4 X 800 relay, the group medaled and helped the team effort by adding points to the La Crosse women's point total. UW-La Crosse finished with 211.0 team points while UW-Oshkosh was second with 181.0 and UW-Eau Claire third with 146.0. UW-Stevens Point placed fourth (94.0) followed by UW-River Falls (78.0), UW-Platteville (58.0), UW-Whitewater (50.0), UW-Stout (33.0) and UW-Superior (6.0).
