Hudson defeated Chippewa Falls 10-0 in a WIAA sectional semifinal Tuesday morning in Eau Claire before dropping the championship game, 13-9, to Eau Claire North later in the day.

With the win, the Huskies improved to 19-4 and advanced to the WIAA State Baseball Tournament in Grand Chute next week while the Raiders end their season with a record of 21-8.

Hudson scored the only run it would need in the sectional semifinal in the first inning when Taylar Zarfos doubled and scored on a single by Chase Graskewicz. Tyler Dierke went on to pitch a four-hit shutout in the five inning win. Graskewicz had three hits and Dierke helped himself by driving in three runs.

In the sectional title game against the Huskies, Kory Koller hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to tie the score, 8-8, but Eau Claire North scored a run in the fifth and two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to seal the title.

Mat Drew had a solo home run in the loss and Andy Edholm contributed two hits, including an RBI double, and scored a run. Edholm, the third of four Raider pitchers used in the game, was tagged with the loss.

Regional final results

Tyler Dierke threw a complete game, four hitter and Kory Koller and Derek Krumrei each drove in a run to lead the Raider baseball team to a 2-0 win over River Falls in a regional final game at Grandview Park last Friday, June 5.

Dierke threw 60 of his 88 pitches for strikes while striking out six and walking none in the complete game victory over the Wildcats.

"Dierke pretty much dominated from start to finish," Raider coach Ryan Huppert said, adding the Raiders played errorless defense behind the pitcher.

Hudson scored the only run it would need in the third when Krumrei led off with a base hit to center and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Koller.

The Raiders added an insurance run in the fourth when Adam Dardine walked and scored on a two-out double by Krumrei.

Krumrei finished with two hits, including a double, with a run scored and run batted in to lead the Raider offense while Taylar Zarfos walked twice and singled. Dierke had the only other Raider hit in the game.
